Jaimie Paris

So I mentioned previously making some other wall art on my Happy Birthday Hubby post.  I've been waiting to get some more pictures from the person I had made this for before I posted about it!  I finally did today, so here goes:

Before I'd even thought about making a 'ManCave' sign for Le Hubby, I made another wall hanging inspired by Alison from Oopsey Daisy.  I'd been wanting to make something for 2 young girls I work with; one is starting her second year of college and the other is my boss's cute daughter and potentially going to Australia for her Senior trip (sort of : \).  My college friend just moved back to her dorm last week, so I made her's first.  This girl LOVES Paris.  Her room at home is covered with stuff in a crimson, black, & white scheme and she has more pictures of the Tower than I could count.

So, I went to Michael's one night with Courtney and found the boards I needed and as a BONUS, the cashier GAVE us a page of coupons!  I asked her if I could use both the 10% off entire purchase & the 40% off one item...the computer let her, so she did!:

I have a good dark red paint already, I just mixed a little dark purple in with it to make the color I wanted:

Now, I had to do a few things differently than Alison originally did them, starting here.  I found my picture online and used Photoshop to make it into a good solid silhouette:

(Insert Sad Face), I however, do NOT have a super awesome Cricut to cut things out for me.  But I won't complain too much...it's not that hard to cut these out.

There, all cut out.

The really fun part was cutting out the letters!  I wanted to have swirly Parisian-ish script, and they really weren't very hard to cut out until I decided I wanted them to be white instead of black...I printed them out on cardstock and thought, 'I'll just paint 'em!'  Yea. Ok. Sure.

Letters nicely cut out with my handy x-acto on cardboard...

Nicely painted...until they almost wouldn't come off the cardboard and I thought I'd have to start the letters allll over again!  One Big Oopsey Daisy!

I eventually got them up and repaired them enough to still be able to use them.

Getting everything MoPo's down...

Almost done...

I used my Grrrrilla Glue (I like callin' it that!) to give it a good hold, and got Le Hubby to help me put the hardware on it.

Jaimie Paris!

And here it is in her dorm:

Do you like it?!
